Hacking Routes in the Brecon Beacons

Hacking Routes in the Brecon Beacons

The beauty of the Brecon Beacons is right on our doorstep; if you want to go on a hack or simply long to enjoy the scenery with an equine companion, here are our favourite routes. After all, our Brecon hotel has more than 600 miles of bridle paths and tracks around it to discover!

Three Rivers Ride

Part of the National Bridleroute Network, the Three Rivers Ride will see you journey through 35 miles of picturesque Brecon Beacons scenery. On your way, you will encounter lowland and upland bridleways before venturing along the western side of the Black Mountains. Llangorse Lake and the River Usk also feature before you end up at the National Park Visitor Centre where you can buy a commemorative rosette.

Black Mountains

Choose this hack and you can enjoy four circular riding loops. Pick one or attempt all four – though you will need to take a rest overnight to complete them! Woodlands and forestry all feature, not to mention spectacular views. There are many stables and riding schools nearby that offer treks and hacking excursions.

Radnor Forest

The Radnor Forest trail will see you and your horse enjoy 70 miles of glorious Welsh terrain. See the Cambrian Mountains and Brecon Beacons National Park on horseback as you explore bridleways, quiet lanes and byways that lead you upland.
